Reverend Dr. Larry D. Goss, Sr. is a native of Charleston, SC and is the seventh child born to Horace and Catherina Goss. His spiritual walk began at his home church, Salem Baptist, where he served in the Sunday School and Baptist Training Union ministries and was also a church musician. In 1998, Rev. Goss united with Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and continued his service to the Lord sharing his musical gifts with the Youth Anointed for Christ (YAC) choir for five years. On February 18, 2001, he accepted his calling from God and was licensed into the gospel ministry under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Dr. Augustus D. Robinson, Jr. In 2005, Reverend Goss received his ordination by the Charleston County Baptist Association. He served on Mt Moriah's Ministerial staff in various capacities including: assisting Pastor Emeritus Robinson in officiating duties, bible study instructor and Outreach Minister. In January 2013, Rev. Goss became Sr. Pastor of Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
Reverend Goss is a graduate of Burke High School and a former member of the United States Naval Reserve. He is also a graduate of multiple post-secondary institutions to include: Charleston Southern University (Bachelor of Science - Social Science), University of Georgia (Masters Degree - Humanities) and J.D. University (Double Doctorate - Religious Education and Pastoral Counseling). In August 2014, Rev. Goss was the recipient of a Honorary Doctor of Divinity from St Thomas University (Fla).
Pastor Goss is a Presidential member in good standing of the American Association of Christian Counselors and currently sits on the boards of Charleston Souther University's Religion Department and the North Charleston and Vicinity Ministerial Alliance. He is a pastoral representative with the City of North Charleston for the Mayoral Task Force to Abate Retaliatory Crimes and a former board member of CO Federal Credit Union and United Methodist Relief Center. He currently serves as a mentor for Daniel Island Schools.
Rev. Goss is married to the former Miss Sharon E. Anderson. They were married at Mt Moriah in 2000. Mrs. Goss was serenaded by her awaiting groom, singing 'On the Wings of Love' by Jeffrey Osborne. Mt Moriah's first family is blessed with three children, Little Miss Kristian E. Goss, Little Miss Kailin E. Goss and Master Larry D. Goss, Jr.; of which their parents are extremely proud.
Rev. Goss professes "above all the certificates, degrees, accolades and words of praise, nothing is more rewarding to me than having my name written in the Lamb's Book of Life." He further states, "I know that God has called me to be one of His preachers/teachers and He has a personal agenda for me. My faith is in Him. I have a blessed assurance in Christ Jesus and I am not ashamed to share his Great Commission with everyone I meet."
